"Better than One Day" is a song written from portions of Psalm 84, which I read today. Enjoy the link below (a version by one of my favorite bands--Kutless) and maybe the scripture from Psalm 84 will stick with you too.

Psalm 84
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
LORD Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.[c]

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.[d]
7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

they make it a place of springs;

7 They go from strength to strength,

8 Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty;
listen to me, God of Jacob.
9 Look on our shield,[e] O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.
listen to me, God of Jacob.
9 Look on our shield,[e] O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

12 LORD Almighty,
blessed is the one who trusts in you.
blessed is the one who trusts in you.
I love Psalms 84! My heart yearns and thirsts for God! I want Him so much!
ReplyDeleteJenifer, thanks for reading. I also love the Psalms and was particularly thankful for this one this morning. It was truly what I needed.
ReplyDeletethis one was good and condensed. i agree with what you said. plus this is one of my favorite worship songs ever. !
ReplyDeleteLove that Psalm and this song. Haven't heard it in awhile either. It brings me back to a time in my life when I was finally done running away from God. "Better is one day in your house than a 1000 elsewhere" So very true
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I can think of no better way top learn scripture by heart!
ReplyDeleteEileen, It is a great song. I am glad that it holds such deep meaning for you.
ReplyDeleteColleen, I agree about music being the best way to learn music--at least for me.
I love this song and the band Kutless! I am one of those people that remembers scripture when it is set in a song.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you.
Kandi, I am glad that you love Kutless. They are a totally under-appreciated group. Strong Tower is my favorite album so far although I like them all.
